Motivation is a Lie

I will go to work when I feel motivated. I will be your father and I feel motivated. I will breathe when I
feel motivated. The above statements cannot be a part of actual life. That is because motivation is a lie.

Motivation is the desire to act in service of a goal. Everyday, people do things that they don't want to do
because they have to do them. We aren't motivated to get up and go to work. We have to do it because
bills need to get paid. We don’t wait for motivation to go to the gym. We do it because there is a goal to
be achieved. We don't wait to be motivated to be active parents and our children’s lives, because
whether you are there or not time passes and your child ages.
Motivation is the child of inspiration. So what do we do when we are not inspired and are not motivated
to do things that need to be done. If you do not have the mental fortitude to recognize that things need
to be accomplished regardless of how you feel, what kind of life can be expected? Can you change by
doing nothing? Will bills be paid for nothing? Of course not. I believe it is interesting how the word
motivation has taken over the place of dedication in society. Going to the gym faithfully is dedication.
Being an active parent all the time is dedication. Wild the necessity is the same, the catalyst for the
actions are different.
Dedication is the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose. Motivation comes and
goes. If you are tired, physical activities may take a back seat. If you are dedicated, nothing will stop you
from achieving a goal. Why then be dedicated and not motivated? Simple. It is because motivation relies
on outside factors that influence your mind to believe that you want or need to do something.
Dedication is dependent on your sole free will and desire to achieve a goal. It is the difference between
being a participant in your life and being actively in control, respectively.

To some people, the words motivation and dedication are pretty much interchangeable as the same
results can be achieved. However, motivation being fleeting can lead to good results sporadically.
However, dedication being constant will lead to good results constantly. You cannot achieve a good
physique if you go to the gym once a month. What's more important than the words being used is the
thought behind the words being used. We are who we believe we are in our minds and do our best to
transfer those thoughts into reality. If there is a delay or a block in our minds that can determine if we
can make the person we envision ourselves to be real or not, are we really in control of our lives? Be
careful of language. Dedicate yourself to something and achieve. And above all else – stay observant.
